| "Just Finished Residency Submission"
Hello everyone, The article Sr. Glen posted related to permanent residency and immigration requirements holds true as I just completed my process. In my case it took 4 days from start of the process to submission of all related docs. From my understanding it will most likely take approximately 2-3 months for US/Canadian/UK Passport holders to receive a Residency Card. Again it is not a sure thing but something of a helpful timeline. I must admit I did have locals help me get through the process in terms of paperwork and proper notary stamps. I would imagine for a fluent Spanish speaker with time to take min 2 weeks to do on their own. It was well worth having help. |
| "Time..."
Mine took 4 or 5 months for the "permanente admission" card from Immigration and then another couple months for my Cedula from the Polica Nacional. Though with luck you'll get through the rapidly. They require about (but not quite) the same papers as Immigration. Too bad it is not more coordinated (ie: less bureaucratic). But, bureaucracy is the normal around the world. Expert Page: Expat Services from Total Paraguay |

| "Uruguay vs Paraguay Residency"
From my reading of the posts it looks as though the residency process in Paraguay is faster than in Uruguay. Is that correct? What about Paraguay citizenship? |
| "Residency Speed"
I don't think you can declare how long it "should" take in either place. It is a bureaucratic process with no guarantees and any assumptions will lead to frustrations. However, as a general observation, at the moment it would appear that in general the process is faster in Paraguay. There are many more paperwork requirements, so doing it yourself will lead to more frustrations and delays. However, all the requirements are currently objective in Paraguay, and not subjective as Uruguay is (at the moment). Citizenship should be discussed in a separate post to avoid confusion between the issues. Expert Page: Expat Services from Total Paraguay |
