| Article: My pleasant surprises in Paraguay After spending some time in another country in South America, I knew it was time to move on. Not that the other country was bad, it just wasn’t a place that I could see myself living permanently.Read the complete article here: |
| "Paraguay Surprises"
What country were you in before moving to Paraguay? For instance, having looked into immigration polices in both Uruguay and Paraguay, they seems to be the same. Same paperwork requirements, same health check, police check, etc. Both seem complex, I'm wondering where you were that would make either of them seem easy.Having spent a couple of months in Paraguay, I can agree with your surprise. My wife an I were both very pleasantly surprised with everything there. Especially the food! |
| "Immigration Processes"
I've gone through the immigration process in several countries, including Uruguay and Paraguay. It might be unfair for me to compare them as you learn so much about patience each time!I would say the processes WERE fairly similar. An objective list of requirements to be met. ie: if you file all the required papers and they are in order you get residency. Uruguay used to have a US$500 a month income requirement and it took me 22 months to get them a document that satisfied that requirement. Paraguay requires you to deposit US$5, 000 in bank account (CD). NOW, Uruguay requires you show you have difficult income to maintain yourself. If providing the paperwork for an objective requirement of simply US$500 a month was so involved, I think the confusion and frustration will increase significantly under their new process. Paraguay requires many more little documents and more certified copies of everything. I wouldn't say either is complex, but they are both detailed oriented and slow. Foood!!! yes!
